Online Reviews for Shifting Gears Automotive

Throughly recommend Gary and the team. Workmanship is outstanding and backup service second to none. 👍👍

Though the car sat there for a few days before they got to work on it it was definitely worth the wait showed how much indemand they were and the cost to get a reconditioned diff was way cheaper than getting a used diff of trade me, and the guy & girl there was awesome too, a pleasure to meet, this place is definitely my go to diff place too... highly recommend A+++

Identified and fixed a small issue masquerading as a much larger one, free of charge. Friendly and helpful the entire time.

Gary is a legend!! Very chill and down to earth guy that is straightforward and transparant. He seems like he knows what he’s doing. Thanks for your help and goodluck with the car :) Would totally recommend him!

Could not recommend Shifting Gears Automotive enough. After multiple workshops couldn’t properly diagnose the issue with my transmission, Gary and the friendly team sorted it quickly and actually knew what they were talking about. You can tell these guys specialise in gearboxes and driveline repairs, not just general mechanical work. Communication was great, pricing was upfront, and my car drives better than it has in years. Hard to find honest transmission specialists in Hamilton these days but these guys are the real deal. Thanks again team!

Googled this shop when our Toyota left us on side of SH1 coming back to AKL - so lucky to have dialled Gary (mind you - late night on Easter Sunday). Gary have picked up the phone, offered to take our car in and provide a courtesy car to allow us to get back home. I'll always be eternally grateful for this - and such dedication and customer focus is to be applauded. Although getting parts / gearbox for our vehicle has proven challenging - Gary didn't leave any stone unturned and found us a 2nd hand gearbox, fitted and finally after a month - car was good to go. Very happy to be customers of such professional and capable shop - well done.

Highly recommended they do an excellent job, Great communication witch is important to me. I drop my car off and go for a walk around tge lake or to town while service is getting done. I will be taking all my cars here from now on.

Awesome automotive workshop They serviced our VF commodore today Motor, transmission and diff After picking it up and driving home I would like to thank shifting gears as it's never felt as smooth when changing gears I would recommend them if your vehicle is in need of a service
